Tournament of the Knights on 30 Aug, Sat
A tournament of the knights - Rissnespleden held at Rissne meadows.
Children could participate (at a cost) in medieval games like mouse-roulette (win a prize if the mouse runs into the hole which they chose); some also tried to throw an axe, shoot archery, handle a sword or buy ornaments sold by craftworkers dressed in medieval robes.
The main event was the knights' tournament where modern knights completed various tasks while riding their horses. Very Heath Ledger-like in 'A Knight's Tale'.
Complemented by the food in ancient style - grilled meat and corn and peas, the aroma and sights brought us back to an era, which we saw only in the movies - and could only imagine - before this day.
In the evening, we also went to Hornstull Strand back in the city and chanced upon this weekly market where there were booths selling organic stuff. Saw the huge-est pumpkin ever! and right now happens to be Halloween week (last week of Oct). This very eventful day of contrasts ended with the crayfish party with the Singapore Club people (earlier post)!
